Sad News: Beaver football loses key star, this is so Sad for Beaver fans

The Beavers have their first departure through the transfer portal since the close of spring practices as wide receiver/running back Montrel Hatten hit the portal Thursday morning.

A high 3-Star recruit out of Carthage (TX), Hatten committed to Oregon State over an impressive offer list including Ole Miss, Arkansas, Colorado, TCU and Texas Tech.

Hatten redshirted as a true freshman in 2023, appearing briefly in the Sun Bowl against Notre Dame.

As a redshirt freshman Hatten didn’t see any action and was a crucial part of scout team efforts for the Beavers.

The 5-foot-11 215 pounder shifted to running back from receiver during the second half of spring practices where he was impressive with his agility and hands out of the backfield.

Hatten will have three years to play three seasons at his next stop.

Oregon State football adds an offensive lineman in the transfer portal

The Oregon State Beavers are strengthening their offensive line with a transfer portal addition.

Former Georgia State and Indiana offensive tackle Will Larkins announced his commitment to the Beavers on Wednesday. Larkins marks OSU’s first signing in the spring transfer window.

Larkins redshirted in one season at Indiana before eventually transferring to Georgia State. He played in six games at both left and right tackle last season for the Panthers. The 6-4, 305-pound Larkins is originally from Hollywood, Florida, where he was a three-star prospect according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

The Beavers’ offensive line struggled in Saturday’s spring game, but coaches expect several injured contributors to return by fall camp. Larkins will be added to a mix of players competing to protect presumptive starting quarterback Maalik Murphy, a highly touted transfer from Duke.
