Huge Announcement: Canucks re-sign Conor Garland to Four- year contract worth $26 Million( a $6.5 million AAV) as per reports from Vancouver Canucks insider

In a major move this offseason, the Vancouver Canucks have reportedly re-signed winger Conor Garland to a four-year contract worth $26 million, according to insider Thomas Drance. The deal, which carries a $6.5 million average annual value (AAV), signals the organization’s firm commitment to Garland as a core piece of its future.

Garland, 28, has been a sparkplug for the Canucks since arriving in a trade from the Arizona Coyotes in 2021. Known for his high motor, elusive play along the boards, and offensive creativity, Garland quickly became a fan favorite in Vancouver. Despite often being shuffled throughout the lineup, he’s consistently produced, registering 46 points (18 goals, 28 assists) in the 2024-25 season.

The new contract represents a significant raise for Garland, who was previously playing on a five-year, $24.75 million deal signed with Arizona before his trade. His $6.5 million AAV now places him among the higher-paid forwards on the Canucks’ roster, a sign that management views him as more than just a complementary piece.

According to Drance, the Canucks’ front office had identified Garland as a key player to retain amid ongoing roster construction. With several contracts set to expire and the team working to remain competitive in the Pacific Division, re-signing a proven contributor like Garland was seen as a priority.

“Garland’s work ethic, consistency, and ability to generate offense at even strength made him a top internal target,” Drance reported. “This deal provides security for both sides and reflects the value the Canucks place on his role.”

Garland’s path to this moment has been anything but conventional. Drafted in the fifth round by Arizona in 2015, he had to prove himself in the AHL before breaking out in the NHL during the 2018-19 season. Since then, he has steadily developed into a reliable top-six forward capable of producing offense in key moments. His tenacity and willingness to battle in tough areas have made him a unique asset, particularly for a Canucks team that has at times struggled with consistency and grit.

This contract also sends a message to the rest of the league — the Canucks are serious about building around a nucleus of hardworking, skilled players who can contribute in all situations. With Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes, J.T. Miller, and now Garland locked in, the foundation for the team’s competitive window appears to be solidifying.

Garland’s re-signing is expected to energize the fan base and bring stability to the top-nine forward group. His chemistry with various linemates and ability to elevate play during critical stretches have made him a key part of the team’s identity.

While some may question the $6.5 million price tag, the Canucks are betting that Garland’s prime years are still ahead. If he continues to bring his trademark intensity and production, the deal could end up being a bargain in the seasons to come.
