Birmingham City plotting ambitious move for former England midfielder
Birmingham City have made their mark this summer transfer window, but with interest in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, they’re not done yet.
Birmingham City picked up their first Championship win of the season last weekend as they beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 on Saturday. BCFC left it late as Jay Stansfield equalised from the spot in the 90th minute, before Lyndon Dykes scored the winner in the 98th minute.
After a busy summer of recruitment, Blues boss Chris Davies is now interested in making his latest signing, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain being a target for the club, as per the Mirror.
The English midfielder has spent the last two years at Turkish club Besiktas, who are reportedly willing to let the 32-year-old leave on a free, despite having a year left on his contract.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is also interested in a return to English football and could be handed an opportunity by the newly promoted Championship club.
The former England international has struggled with injury throughout his career and played only 18 times in the Super Lig. He will hope to keep himself fit during the upcoming season, with a potential move to the Midlands club on the cards.
Birmingham City have had an ambitious summer where they have further shown their spending power, and this could now be set to continue as they look to lure Oxlade-Chamberlain to St. Andrew’s.
