Five-star Ohio State target set to commit on Tuesday: Buckeye Breakfast

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State will have a five-star running back target commit on Tuesday morning, and the news — even if he doesn’t commit to the Buckeyes — could have a massive impact on the future in Columbus.

Five-star 2026 running back Savion Hiter will commit on Tuesday at 11:15 a.m. He’ll choose between Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan and Tennessee.

The No. 9 overall prospect and No. 1 running back in the 2026 class per the 247Sports composite, Hiter’s recruitment has been relatively lowkey for the top-rated back in the nation.

Ohio State has one running back commitment, four-star Favour Akih, in the class as it stands. And with momentum not on the Buckeyes’ side headed into Hiter’s decision, it certainly appears that Akih might be the only running back in coach Carlos Locklyn’s class.

After taking three (Bo Jackson, Isaiah West and Anthony “Turbo” Rogers) backs in the 2025 class, Ohio State could be set with just Akih. Numbers-wise, it would make sense.

Only CJ Donaldson is set to depart the room after the season, and Akih’s addition would replace that loss.

Of course, if Hiter ends up in Ann Arbor as a Wolverine, Buckeye fans will have to keep an eye out for him long after Tuesday’s commitment.
