Massive Commitment: Four-Star Quarterback ranked No. 10 in the country commits to Oklahoma State over Virginia Tech, UCLA, Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Kentucky.
Massive Commitment: Four-Star QB Oscar Rios Chooses Oklahoma State
Rios has been to Stillwater twice since the Cowboys offered in January.
Oklahoma State has landed one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 recruiting class. Four-star signal-caller Oscar Rios, ranked as the No. 10 quarterback in the nation, has announced his commitment to the Cowboys, choosing Stillwater over offers from Virginia Tech, UCLA, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Kentucky.
Rios, a dynamic and polished passer, has been a coveted target across the country. Standing out with his poise in the pocket, strong arm, and playmaking ability, Rios had narrowed his list down to a competitive group of Power Five programs. But after a recent visit to Oklahoma State, the decision became clear.
The Cowboys first extended an offer to Rios in January. Since then, the relationship between Rios and the Oklahoma State coaching staff has quickly strengthened. He made his first visit to Stillwater earlier in the year, but it was his return trip this past weekend that solidified his decision. Rios came away impressed not only with the facilities and the program’s direction under head coach Mike Gundy but also with the environment and support system surrounding the team.

“The culture at Oklahoma State really stood out to me,” Rios said. “It just felt like the right place—where I could grow both on and off the field.”
Landing Rios is a major win for the Cowboys’ 2025 class. His commitment gives Oklahoma State a cornerstone at the most important position and signals their intent to stay competitive in the Big 12 with a high-upside passer leading the future. Known for his deep-ball accuracy and ability to extend plays with his legs, Rios fits well into Oklahoma State’s offensive scheme, which values mobility and creativity from the quarterback position.
Recruiting analysts have praised Rios for his rapid development over the past year. His footwork, decision-making, and confidence have all taken significant steps forward, elevating him into the top 10 nationally among quarterbacks. He’s expected to bring leadership and competitiveness that can help elevate the program further.
This commitment also sends a strong message to other recruits. With Rios on board early, Oklahoma State now has a marquee name to build their class around. It’s likely that other offensive weapons will take notice of the decision and consider joining forces with one of the top QBs in the class.
For Rios, the decision marks the end of an intense recruiting process—but just the beginning of a new journey. As he prepares for his senior season of high school football, he does so with his future already decided and a clear vision of where he’s headed.
Oklahoma State fans have reason to celebrate. The Cowboys have secured a major piece of their future, and Oscar Rios is ready to lead the charge.
