Former Ohio State, Penn State star suffers ATV accident
Fleming has since been released from the hospital.
On Friday, fans of Ohio State football were dealt some concerning news regarding former Buckeyes wide receiver Julian Fleming, who was involved in an ATV accident that unfortunately resulted in the death of his girlfriend, Alyssa Boyd.
According to a Pennsylvania State Police report, Fleming and Boyd were driving an ATV on Friday evening without any safety equipment when a deer that was later found dead at the scene jumped out in front of the moving vehicle.
As a result, Fleming sustained “serious injuries” that he was treated for at Guthrie Troy Community Hospital. Unfortunately, Boyd’s injuries were more severe, as she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fortunately, Fleming has since been released from the hospital, according to 247 Sports. But obviously, the emotional toll of Boyd’s passing will likely have lasting effects on Fleming mentally.

As for how this incident potentially affects Fleming’s career in football will depend on how severe the injuries he sustained were, which isn’t exactly clear at the moment.
Fleming went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft after spending his final year of collegiate eligibility at Penn State this past season, recording 14 receptions for 176 receiving yards and one touchdown with the Nittany Lions.
According to The News-Item, Fleming was expected to sign a contract with the Green Bay Packers. But it ultimately got rescinded after Fleming failed a physical with the team due to hip and back injuries.
Hopefully, Fleming’s injury sustained in this recent accident won’t further impact his future in the NFL. But obviously, Fleming will likely take some time to recover and mourn the loss of his girlfriend before he even considers attempting to step on a football field.
